Gulio Romano and the horses of Pallazzo Te Mantua
One of the deepest impressions of Art I got in 1992 in the Gonzaga
Palazzo Te of Mantua, designed between 1524 and 1534 by
Giulio Romano, Raffaels favorite pupil. The room with the bold painted horses were exiting, the freshness of the famous illusionistic frescos, the personality of the dukes Frederico Gonzagas stallions. Those stallions seem not to be inside the painting, but to stand next to it.
As far as I know, four of the six horses are with their names: Glorioso, Battaglia, Dario and Morel Favorito
How much I would like to see the originals again...
Unknown Stallion
The Stallion Morel Favorito
