German impressionist 1922
I grew up with this painting because it was in my grandmothers property and hangs for 30 years in our livingroom. I remember in my childhood, that I believed the dog to be a calf. Maybe this painting had also an influence that I became a painter myself.
The painting is absolutely perfect done on a high artistic level, not any sign of incertitude to find, that in contrast to contemporary art, where is plenty of speculation very often.
Its quite big around 85x90 cm. I am often curious wether the artist did it plein-air or in a studio or after an photography. The freshness of the surface and the handling of the paint let me think it was made pleinair.
It is undersigned MAX DIEK or DIEL. 1922, I could not find any further information about this great artist yet. While searching on Max Diel instead I found a promising young artist Max Diel
from Berlin, who also studied at Rietveld Academie Amsterdam like I did. Check out his paintings here
